8/15/2023 0 Comments Flycut torquer v2I've read I can match piston and rod lengths for minor changes for deck height (assuming rod crank side clearance is still within spec).ĭo i then need to look into rocker geometry.the tappets are hydraulic if it makes a difference. If so, do I adjust each cylinder to match Compression ratio, OR do i do it in pairs (i.e 3/4 and 1/2). Ive heard alot of people leave those head to cylinder shims out anyway.ĭo i really need to go the whole hog, and measure deck height, then CC the heads, then calculate compression ratio. My question is, for a simple street motor, is it enough to just measure the deck height and keep it less than 40 thou (1mm), and not worry about the flycut to much. I know that my heads have been flycut to restore the head to cylinder face (I think the cylinders were loose on one side). Its a simple street motor, running standard p&c's, hydraulic lifters, etc. Ive read every book i can on the subject). Im uber excited, especially as its a long awaited first build. Its a 2.0 Type 4 Engine (CU code from a 1982 vanagon, but its in a bay window). I should get my engine back from the machine shop this week. I finally have a question i cant get an answer from the archives for!
